The psycho-social consulting office Tamach is going to close down its activities after 15 years of existence. Psycho-social office for Holocaust survivors and their relatives in Switzerland, public speeches, professional developments, publications of articles, Holocaust education in Swiss schools and the yearly Bigler price-award are among the acitivties being offered by Tamach.
Most importantly, two causes can be mentioned for the reason of Tamach shutting down its operations. Firstly, the Holocaust survivors are getting older and most of them, unfortunately, already passed away. Secondly, the work of Tamach was getting more and more complicated due to Tamach’s therapies and pedagogical approaches (Holocaust education) as well as their scientifical publications. Most of that work was done out of voluntary work. Nevertheless, because of the drop of donations in the recent years Tamach is not able to continue its work as before.
The holocaust survivors and their family members (of the second generation) to which had already been looked after, will still being supervised.
The financial means of Tamach are going to be donated to Amcha, an organisation that has similar tasks as Tamach, which is based in Israel.
